Joe Bechtold |
School, work, and a social life were all that concerned Joe Bechtold in 2004. However, one simple class at community college changed all that. Joe Bechtold became aware of the exploitation of our country's corporations and never was the same. Tired of what he sees as pure laziness on the part of himself and the American people, Joe Bechtold decided it was time to take action.
Joe Bechtold then went on attempting to find solutions to the many problems facing our country and world. Immanuel Kant once stated "No-one can compel me to be happy in accordance with his conception of the welfare of others, for each may seek his happiness in whatever way he sees fit, so long as he does not infringe upon the freedom of others to pursue a similar end which can be reconciled with the freedom of everyone else within a workable general law - i.e. he must accord to others the same right as he enjoys himself." Guided by this principal, Joe came to the conclusion that in order to fix our country, we must first fix ourselves. We need to stop acting as individuals and start being compassionate towards our neighbor. We must stop thinking about how we can serve ourselves and think about serving our community and country. In order for there to be change, we must take action.

Rev. Damien Darko |
Supposedly born in 1973, (though there is some doubt in that claim) the Reverend Damien Darko has been many things in his life:
Musician, teacher, writer, computer geek, hebephrenic crusader against decaffeinated coffee...
These days, however, he is the pastor of the Nashville branch of the Universal Life Church of the Outcast and the mouthy, opinionated, and somewhat...unusual host of The Dark Side. He is a champion of freedom of speech, general liberty and the rights of all living things. He questions everything (even those who agree with him) in his life-long quest to find the truth in the Salvador Dali painting most people call "life".

Charlie Kensil |
Charlie Kensil, a former combat Marine with experience in Beirut in the 1980’s, has always believed in his country. He was a Reagan Republican who first began to doubt his party’s commitment to the American people when the first President Bush vetoed the Family and Medical Leave Act in 1991, directly affecting his family. Then came the impeachment proceedings against President Clinton, and Charlie became convinced that the Republicans were the party of self-interest and hypocrisy, not the party in which he had believed.
Since then Charlie’s been a dedicated viewer of C-SPAN, watching our Congress in action and further changing his outlook on politics … and life! With the Internet he’s been able to expand his sources of information regarding the issues of the day.
Charlie Kensil was born and raised in Philadelphia, lived in Hawaii, southern California and Seattle before settling in south New Jersey. He’s traveled around the world four times, yet somehow missing Europe! Charlie calls his show The Political Atlas because, like his travels, he covers “the map.”

Michael Silliman
|
In 1946, I was born in Long Beach, California, to Earl & Betty Silliman. He was fresh from his 25 missions over Germany and she was fresh out of high school. Their obvious unsuitability quickly resulted a brisk shuffle of dancing partners, and ol’ mom remarried a guy in the Air Force who eventually had something to do with setting up the infamous “Hot Line” to the Kremlin and I got dragged all over the states and around the world as the comic relief. Then Uncle Sam got his grubby mitts on me when I came of age, and I continued my involuntary world tour with the lovely sights of Honolulu, Japan and South East Asia. Do you realize how many inoculation booster shots all that entails? I’m lucky I can still raise my arms.
I was/am blessed/cursed with the ability to play the guitar, which put me on a path that didn’t include having an interest in learning a real trade of any sort. So I cashed in all of my well-earned GI Bill and became a professional college student. Immediately, I got hooked on theatre and, discovering that I had some considerable aptitude for that discipline as well, I became the most useless of creatures…a Theatre Major. That led me to a earning a degree from CalArts, only to brutally discover shortly afterward that college theatre is not professional theatre, and although I really loved doing theatre, I couldn’t stand being around the kind of people who do theatre. Too many unhappy buckaroos.
So I went back to playing music and started to gonzo the folk festivals, which by this time were becoming next to extinct. I learned to typeset and do magazine production to pay my rent, which led to learning how to edit movies with Avid & Premiere. My innate revulsion to pornography, of course, led me to a job editing the stuff. I now drive a limo in my golden years and play an occasional coffeehouse gig to keep my mic chops up, but mostly you can find me these days parked in my recliner with my cat, drinking whiskey.

Samm Simpson

Nearly 55 years ago I was born in the "Breadbasket of the World"-the Iowa Midwest-near the Mississippi River, to a father and mother who instilled equal doses of analytical thinking and the mystery of faith. My youthful heroes-Edward R, Murrow, President John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr., the Harlem Globetrotters, Muhammad Ali, Mahatma Gandhi and others inspired a well of idealism that refuses to run dry. I began my broadcasting career as a live radio announcer in 1973, when few women's voices were part of the landscape. I've been employed as a television and radio host, producer, director and writer in Iowa, Minnesota, Colorado and Florida, and am now a proud member of the Free World Radio Network. From 2001 - 2003, I was Manager of Television and Radio operations for Pinellas County Economic Development, where I produced and co-hosted the award winning "Good Business Pinellas" radio and television programs. These programs gained recognition as one of the best in Florida and the Southeastern United States.
I am a person of faith, a survivor of domestic violence and for many years was a single parent. I hold great empathy toward families who have loved ones struggling with emotional and mental illnesses - and often neglected by a society that has become increasingly driven by materialism, hubris and greed.
My hope is that we can bend back the darkness, rediscover our humanity and the moral reasoning and rule of law that our nation was founded upon. May we engage in rational discussions of the issues that beset us on every side. Wrestling with the corporate interests that dominate our Congress - and returning it into the hands of the people - will not be easy - but defending freedom and truth never is. This is the call of our generation. Together, we can make a stand. Together, we can take back our country. Together, we can work to preserve the planet for our children and our grandchildren.

Brian Wolf
A Blog Talk Radio
Featured Host |
Born in 1960, Brian Wolf grew up in SW Pennsylvania during the height of the Steelers era. After school he joined the US Army, volunteered for Infantry and Airborne and then was sent in 1978 to be a speed bump in Germany should the Russians invade.
After the Army he held several jobs while putting himself through college. Then in a brilliant stroke of insight, he decided to dump everything he had just learned and spent the next several years following The Grateful Dead from city to city, this only added to his education as he learned as much or more on tour than he did in school.
On July 4 weekend 1988 he met a Deadhead girl at a speedway in Maine, where the Dead were playing that weekend, and a year later they were married.
They went on summer tour for the Honeymoon and then packed everything into a U-Haul and moved from Cape Cod to San Francisco, arriving July 31, 1989 less than 2 months before the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake.
During this time Brian also met Keith McHenry one day and joined in with Food Not Bombs feeding the homeless and trying to avoid getting arrested for doing so.
Brian was also ordained during this time and later earned his Doctor of Divinity. Brian is an atheist, considers himself a Secular Buddhist and is the Pastor of the NW Branch of the Universal Life Church of the Outcast.
In 1999 Brian and his wife moved north to about 50 miles SE of Seattle where he lives to this day.
Brian is a strong advocate for free speech, the Second Amendment, and reminding the politicians in D.C. that they work for us and not the other way around.
They serve at the pleasure of the people. Remember that: WE THE PEOPLE!
